Children reflect the innocence of our God

by SOR Mission on July 11, 2012

Our ministry continues here in Honduras. At times we fail to realize the importance of teaching the children as they reflect the kingdom of God and  are tomorrow’s leaders of the church.  The Bible teaches us that to enter the Kingdom of God we must enter it like children.  Matthew 18:1-5 so clearly speaks  the thoughts of Jesus concerning our pride and self importance.  It says, “At that time the disciples came to Jesus. They asked him, “Who is the most important person in the kingdom of heaven?” Jesus called a little child over to him. He had the child stand among them. Jesus said, “What I’m about to tell you is true. You need to change and become like little children. If you don’t, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Anyone who becomes as free of pride as this child is the most important in the kingdom of heaven.

“Anyone who welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. I think this is the reason we feel so much joy ministering to them..   We’re in the presence of Jesus!

Here, so much is focused on adult ministry, that at times the children are overlooked.  We focus on the size of the church or the power gifts on display at a particular church but Jesus here is saying something a bit different.  We are to focus on serving others humbly rather than puffing our chests out and thinking what a beautiful specimen of a Christian I am. We, as missionaries, have dedicated time to include children in our ministry. The picture posted here is a small window into what a missionary does with their time.

Joyfully Submitted,

Mateo
