Resurrection Sunday and Why it Matters

by SOR Mission on April 20, 2014

Road to Emmaeus VascuezToday we celebrated the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ as had been foretold by the ancient Hebrew Prophets of the Bible.  Jesus was on the road that led to Emmaus when he engaged two men who were talking about the days events.  They were surprised that he wasn’t aware of the days happening in Jerusalem, a city at that time that was about 40,000 inhabitants.  Jesus said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” Luke 24:25-27.  Read the full account of Jesus on the road to Emmaus here.  In believing in his resurrection, we see Jesus as not merely a prophet or a great teacher but as God Almighty.  As Thomas said after putting his hand into the wound on Jesus’ side, “My Lord and my God” I welcome you to put your trust in Jesus our Messiah, Jehovah God and the Creator of the Universe. This is the work of SOR Mission.

Read more about how the resurrection power led one man to take on the evil of the Nazi regime and paid the ultimate price as he died a martyr for his Faith.  Go to our Today Page for this story.   This is what God calls us to as believers. Put our faith to work in believing the impossible and speaking out against the injustices we see happening in our world today.
